Pushing Cancer Up the Hill
June 8, 2010
Many of my readers have sent me praise and thanks for being such an “inspiration.” It’s funny, because I don’t view it that way at all. I’m just doing what needs to be done in my mind.
My belief is that we’re all put on this Earth to learn, grow and give something back. When I was thinking about what I had to “give back,” the answer playfully slapped me across the face. Cancer!
One single epiphany; teach others how to “Thrive With Cancer” like you have learned. If I can help folks that I come in contact with to ease their anxiety and share with them a new, positive way to look at life, then I’ve done my job.
I have been pushing my cancer rock up the hill for 10 years now, through 5 occurrences. And I am most grateful that I’ve had these experiences. You have to be willing to accept "baby steps" throughout your experiences with Cancer.
Somewhere around halfway up this hill, I realized that holding a positive mental attitude throughout your cancer journey is the key to success.
What do I mean by “success?” I define success in having the ability to live each day with gratitude and a childlike sense of wonder. That’s it.
