Get Outta The Weeds!

Folks, I know things are tough right now. Everyone is paying the price for our collective gluttony of years gone by. We are facing a global financial collapse over the next couple of years. In addition, many of you who are reading this are facing cancer, or someone you care about is. There’s a lot to be down about right now.

But you have a choice. The circumstances that are occurring in your life do NOT dictate how your life turns out. The only thing that directly impacts you is how you choose to view your situation. You control the thoughts that you have! What thoughts are predominant in your mind each day? Are they upbeat thoughts of how you and your family are going to make 2009 an outstanding year? Are you picturing yourself healthy and happy? Are you smiling and enjoying the time doing the things you love?

Or are your thoughts mostly negative…, what I call “Being in the Weeds?”

While I think that it’s important that you pay attention to the media and what’s happening in our world right now, I think that it’s wise to continue to manage your daily thoughts and keep a positive spirit. After all, if you died tomorrow, would you have wanted to waste today with useless, negative mental energy worrying about things you can’t control? Food for thought my friends…

Money and Friends

Had the pleasure of hanging out with my two dear friends over coffee on Saturday. We discussed the crappy economy and decided that we will help each other no matter what. Friendship supercedes any negative impact. You can tell who your friends are as they care about you if you make $100,000+ a year or $1,000. Your true essence is important, not your situation.

AMEN

Thank you for just reminding us what is important!

Live for today with an eye for tomorrow

Yes, agreed Don! Stressing only hurts our bodies, minds and relationships. All the things that we find out are truly important and irreplaceable in our lives when push comes to shove. While I do still find it hard sometimes, during the bustle and hustle of life, to recenter on that important message, it is truly such a crucial one. One thing I've found that helps, is to live in the sun today with a respect for the future...that is, not to worry, but to take care of those things that may cause further stress should one be fortunate enough to be around for that day. : ) Thank you for your wonderfull message, it''s always good to be reminded of what's really important. Be well,Zu

Hope Rides Again

Right On Donald!! You know how in "Field of Dreams" people only see life's messages when they truly get out of their lives and see the future? Today on my commute to work this morning I passed the message on the Niketown window. No, it didn't say "If you build it , he will come", but it was a Lance Armstrong display with the words: "HOPE RIDES AGAIN!" Ironically it has been up for a while, but only this morning did I break out of my trance and see the window display.

I've said it once.....I'll say it again

You're awesome Donald. The insight you share with us is extremely powerful. I am motivated once again - and I thank you. Hope your day is filled with plenty of sunshine. md

Totally agree

Another survivor friend and I were talking about this very subject the other day and how after cancer, the problems with the economy seem so fixable in the long run. Like I'm sure you know, after cancer, we don't let these sorts of things tear us down like they might once have. The economy WILL turn around and I don't want to waste a day stressing over things like that when life is still a gift and only temporary. Thanks for your great piece.

Thanks for reminding us what's important

Don,My family's thoughts and prayers are with you. Thanks for reminding us of what's important. Money and jobs don't buy us another day on this earth and we need to keep our perspective.Take care,-TedTed

I have learned that you need to live life as if you are dying tomarrow the hard way- very few regrets, the people I love, know that I do and the boys, well, that is my only negative mental energy... You make it easier for people to think and talk about by your openness and great blogs!
